National Informatics Centre Kollam District Centre took immediate steps
to deliver the information of the sufferings to the public by providing
a help desk at Collectorate Kollam. An LCD projector display system was
setup for the purpose and latest updates of the death and injured persons
were displayed.
The communication facilities in these villages were interrupted and the
Web Service provided by NIC Kollam District Centre helps the people who
were residing out of the State and Gulf Countries to know about their
Kith and Kins. The web page related shows information regarding the list
of death cases, list of relief camps, damage details, contact details
of district officials and a message page to contribute to the victims
of the deadly Tsunami Tidal Wave.
On basis of the direction from Shri.V.S. Reghunathan, Technical Director
& State Informatics Officer, NIC Kerala State Unit, Thiruvananthapuram,
a DATA CENTRE has been setup at taluk office Karunagappally for the rapid
collection of TSUNAMI related data. A server with 10 nodes were installed
and data entry was completed for death details, Injured details, Identification
of fully damaged houses, Partially damaged houses, other damaged buildings
and loses of Animals, Agriculture and fishing craft etc. Arrangements
were also made for collecting and feeding all the grievances received
from public and it was completed in a war footed manner
